This can be dry sand, which is gradually changed or added.
You can also store melons in wood ash or use sphagnum moss. It can prevent rot and has an antibacterial effect.
3. They also practice treating the surface of the watermelon with a solution of clay or alabaster, wax, paraffin. A protective layer up to 1 centimeter thick is applied.
