You've probably noticed that some canned fish say "Made at Sea" while others say "Made by the Sea".
Many people don’t see the difference, but it exists, and it’s significant.
We tell you how just one letter in a phrase on a can of fish changes the quality of the product.
What canned fish is better to buy
The inscription "Made at Sea" means that the canned goods are made from freshly caught fish on a floating cannery.
If the can says “Made by the sea,” the product is produced in a factory on the shore from frozen raw materials.
Manufacturers do not hide this, they indicate it on the can, but the inscription “Made by the sea” can confuse the buyer.
Canned food made on the shore may not taste any worse, but there is still a difference.
