Experts strongly advise against leaving washed items in the machine, even for a short time.
This is bad for both the equipment and the clothes. If you constantly leave wet clothes in the washing machine, mold will start growing in it.
And the clothes will acquire an unpleasant damp smell, which will be very difficult to get rid of.
If you simply dry damp things, the smell will not disappear. You will have to wash them again, and at a temperature of at least 60 degrees.
