Dry cleaning or washing machine: which blankets can be cleaned at home

It is a common belief that any blanket with filling can only be refreshed and cleaned at a dry cleaner, but, as often happens, this opinion is just a common misconception.

If you don't have the time or desire to take the item to the professionals, take a closer look at the blanket - some types of filling are quite suitable for machine washing.

Bamboo

Before you place your bamboo blanket in the washing machine drum, make sure that it has a minimum capacity of 7 kg.

Wash only in a delicate mode, at a water temperature of no more than 30 degrees and a spin of no more than 800 revolutions. Use detergents in the form of gels, as well as the additional rinse function.

To dry the blanket, do not hang it under any circumstances. Instead, take it out into the fresh air and shake it periodically.

Camel wool

Wool absorbs water well, so when wet, the blanket will become several times heavier. To avoid breakage, make sure the drum of the washing machine is large enough.

Suitable modes are "Wool" or "Delicate", water - no hotter than 30 degrees, and the spin function should be turned off. For washing, buy a washing gel with lanolin in the composition.

Drying is done on a horizontal surface in the fresh air. You can use this function in the machine (if it is provided).

Swan's down

In this case, you should act almost the same way as in the previous ones: select a delicate mode and a temperature no higher than 30 degrees, use a neutral soft gel (conditioners and bleaches are prohibited) and turn off the spin.

Dry swan down blankets horizontally, shaking them from time to time.

Earlier we wrote about how many blankets there should be in the house.
