This breed was developed in Great Britain in the 1830s.
1. Long-livers
The average lifespan of a dog of this breed is about 10-12 years. The exception was the British dog Adjutant, who lived 27 years and 98 days. Only four other dogs lived longer.
2. Intellectuals
These dogs are enviable intellectuals and are able to remember and execute up to a hundred commands. Labradors can be found serving on the border and in customs agencies.
3. Origin
The retriever's ancestors were the St. John's water dog. The breed died out, but today's Labradors inherited the habit of bringing sticks even from the water. The fact is that water dogs were used by fishermen and helped pull in nets.
4. Swimmer
Labradors are also excellent swimmers. Thanks to their webbed feet, they move well in water and snow.
5. Sniffers
These dogs have such a sensitive sense of smell that they can detect both illegal substances and diseases in humans.
