A shelf filled with weighty volumes can probably be found in any apartment.
But do you know how to clean this place properly? We are here to share with you some tips on how to get rid of dust, mold, and pests that often live next to books.
To begin with, you should clear your shelf of numerous (or not numerous) publications.
Now wipe the surfaces with a dry cloth to remove dust, then wipe with a napkin soaked in soapy water to remove any stains.
Now that the shelf is done, it's time to tackle the books themselves.
Please note: if the editions are very old and valuable, it makes sense to take them to a restorer.
In other cases, a vacuum cleaner will come to the rescue, on which you need to put a nylon sock or wrap it with a double layer of gauze. Do not forget to secure such a nozzle with an elastic band.
Start by vacuuming the cover and page edges while holding the book closed, then hold the book spine up and slowly flip through the pages to help remove dust and insects.
The same thing should be repeated, this time holding the book vertically.
All that remains is to wipe the outer surface of each volume with a slightly damp, lint-free white cloth, wait for them to dry, and place them back on the shelf.
