In every home, pillows have different fillings: down, feathers, silicone, holofiber or sheep wool.
It is important to know that pillows absorb dust very well, where dust mites live and reproduce. They can cause allergies.
That is why you need to wash your pillows regularly. You can wash them in a washing machine or by hand. There is also a service called dry cleaning, and it will cost a considerable amount of money. So try to do it yourself.
Hand wash
• Pour water into a large container, add washing powder or soap solution and ammonia at a rate of 1 teaspoon per liter of water.
• Remove down and feathers from the pillows, place them in water and leave for several hours.
• Then wash it a little by hand, squeeze it out, transfer it to a second container and rinse it several times under the tap.
• Place a thin layer of fluff and feathers on the film.
• You need to stir and turn them over regularly until they are completely dry.
Machine wash
- Remove the contents from the pillows and place them in a laundry bag. If the pillow is small, you can put it in the drum of the machine without opening it.
- Fill the powder compartment, set the speed to 400, the temperature to 40 C and rinse 2-3 times.
- Spread out the film in a lighted area and lay out the feathers or down in a thin layer.
- Turn and stir constantly until completely dry.
Washing pillows at home does not cause any problems. But chicken feathers cannot be washed at home, but only in special workshops.
