Maintaining the color of fabric during washing is not an easy task, but time and household chemicals are stubborn and take their toll. The color fades, and even if the shape is preserved, faded sweaters and T-shirts are sent to live out their days in the country.
And to prevent this from happening, experienced housewives prefer to be cunning.
Wash and color
Of course, you need to follow the basic rule of sorting, i.e. do not wash black and white together, or colored with light colors.
But there is an important point.
Colored items like soft water, and to check this, try dissolving 20 grams of soap in a glass of hot water. It dissolves quickly - the water is soft. Otherwise, you will have to soften it.
What to add when washing
1. Soak colored items in a separate container, where you need to add the following solution: 50 g of boric acid per 1 glass of warm water and leave for 1 hour. There should be enough water in the container to cover the laundry. Then add the prepared solution to it.
2. Vinegar and salt are used as an alternative.
Yellow, pink and blue colours are said to be better preserved by adding 125ml of 95% vinegar to the rinse aid tray.
Blue and red will hold up better if you use salt during washing (15 g per wash).
Black color will be preserved better if you wash items in cool water with detergent and a small amount of salt.
3. And to ensure that the terry material remains bright and soft, it is useful to rinse the item in water with glycerin after washing.
