Storing onions in an apartment carries the risk of midges appearing, which can spoil the harvest.
At first there aren't many of them, so the insects go unnoticed. But over time this becomes a problem.
It is easier to prevent the appearance of midges than to fight them later. The winged ones will fly all over the house and will not leave flower pots unattended.
Therefore, experienced housewives follow simple rules and use one trick. All this helps to avoid meeting with midges.
How to Store Onions
1. Before sending the bulbs for storage, they are dried.
2. The humidity in the room where the vegetable is stored should not be higher than 80%.
3. The air temperature does not exceed +22 °C. If a basement is used, the temperature here should be within the range of +1 …+5 °C.
4. Onions are best stored in ventilated boxes. It is necessary to periodically remove the peeling husk.
There is a little trick that will scare away midges. Insects do not like the smell of carrots, so the root crop can be placed next to onions.
