Cereals, flour and dried fruits are the favorite habitats of insects in the kitchen. Often moths and other beetles and worms start up in the bins.
They don't always get into the kitchen from the grocery store. Some just wait for their moment. These more often enter homes through dried fruits.
Some need conditions of high humidity, others need spoiling and rotting products, and weevils generally need food as such.
How to protect supplies
1. It is best to store bulk products in glass containers. If this is not possible, hide them in the refrigerator.
2. It is necessary to keep kitchen shelves clean, regularly ventilate the room and monitor the humidity level.
3. If the bugs have already settled in, it is better to get rid of the food. You can drive the pests out of grains and dried fruits by soaking the food in warm water for 10-15 minutes.
4. After this, you need to clean the kitchen and treat the shelves and cabinets with vinegar or citric acid.
The bugs won't appear
It is best to store cereals, pasta and other grocery supplies together with spices. This can be garlic and bay leaf, hot pepper, essential oils or aromatic herbs.
