Garlic was an expensive pleasure both for those who bought it in a store or at the market, and for those who grew it in their own garden.
That’s why housewives always came up with tricks that helped preserve the harvest and use every clove to good effect.
The Soviet method of storing garlic is still popular today. It is both economical and effective at the same time.
How to Store Garlic
1. Take a small plastic bucket and dry sand. Pour a small layer of sand onto the bottom of the container – about 1 cm.
2. Place the garlic on the sand. Place the heads so that they do not touch each other.
3. Then sprinkle the garlic with sand. The heads should be completely covered.
4. Next, lay out the next layer of garlic, which is also sprinkled with sand. This way, the bucket is filled to the top.
5. Garlic should be stored in a cool place, for example, on a balcony or in a cellar.
