Soviet housewives knew how to run their households as economically as possible and knew dozens of tricks.
One of them concerns clothes. At that time they did without air fresheners, capsules, diffusers and other similar devices.
But many housewives achieved excellent results without any intricacies. "Waste" came to the rescue, which now 99% of housewives throw in the trash.
Using soap scraps to wash your hands is inconvenient and awkward in front of guests. In Soviet times, soap scraps were used for other household chores.
The housewives chose one of two options. In the first case, the soap scraps were grated and mixed with washing powder, after being grated first. Or they were placed in the closet between things.
After a couple of days, the entire closet was filled with a pleasant aroma, and along with this, the fabric was saturated with the smell of soap.
The soap scraps also came in handy when you needed to wash the floor. You would rub about 50-100 g into a bucket, pour warm water in, and you would have a virtually free cleaning product.
