What you should not use when washing membrane fabric: you risk ruining your jacket

Clothing made from membrane has a number of useful qualities.

Thus, membrane fabric has water-repellent properties and the ability to protect not only from raindrops, but also from gusts of piercing wind.

Like any other items, membrane products also need to be washed from time to time, and one of the most important steps in this difficult task is the choice of detergent.

The main requirement for the powder is that it should not clog the micropores, otherwise the clothes will lose their vapor permeability.

Stain removers can also lead to a deterioration in the properties of the material – unfortunately, they also easily clog micropores.

Bleaches containing chlorine are also not suitable - in this case, the fabric will become more permeable.

The use of conditioners and rinses that can soften the fabric is also prohibited.

Make sure that the label in the composition column indicates that household chemicals contain enzyme components. Laundry detergents without this component destroy the properties of the material.

The best option is to use gels that are specifically designed to wash the membrane. If you can’t find them on the shelf in the supermarket section, try looking in a sporting goods store.
