Vinegar works wonders when cleaning. It can remove limescale, deal with odors, and disinfect various surfaces.
But there are materials that can deteriorate after contact with acid. This applies to natural stone coatings and not only. We will tell you more.
1. Natural stone
Marble and other samples lose their shine, uniform color, and generally deteriorate after contact with vinegar. Therefore, they should be protected from acids.
2. Laminate and parquet
The color of these coatings may fade after treatment with vinegar. The same rule applies to all polished surfaces. Due to contact with acid, the polish fades and loses its gloss.
3. Seams on tiles
If they were sealed with silicone, it is better not to use vinegar for cleaning and washing tiles. The hardened silicone then loses its elasticity, dries out, and can crack and crumble.
4. Washing machine
Not everything is as smooth as the housewives say. Acid has a detrimental effect on copper and rubber parts, which can cause leaks.
5. Dishwasher
The same applies to the treatment of rubber seals in dishwashers. Citric acid is much safer.
6. Aluminum cookware
Aluminum does not forgive contact with acid. This applies not only to dishes, but to any decorative elements. After treatment, stains may appear on the metal surface. It is better to clean with baking soda.
