To determine the temperature, washing mode and detergents, first of all you need to find out what material the bed linen is made of.
In the vast majority of cases, this information is indicated on the packaging, so when buying a new duvet cover, do not rush to get rid of the labels and tags.
So, if the linen is white and made of calico, you can safely choose a water temperature of 60 degrees. The powder, of course, should be designed for washing white linen.
Colored calico is washed at a temperature of 40 degrees, using the appropriate detergent.
The same rules apply to washing calico's relative, cotton. Sets with a pattern are washed at 40 degrees, white ones at 40-60 degrees (depending on the degree of contamination). Boiling at 95 degrees is allowed.
Since satin is the same cotton fabric, the same mode and temperature from 40 to 95 degrees are suitable for a satin duvet cover.
Silk underwear is washed on a delicate cycle, always using liquid detergent. The water temperature should not exceed 30 degrees.
The same washing is recommended for sets made of bamboo, cambric and chintz fabrics.
For washing synthetics, choose a temperature of up to 40 degrees. Conditioner will help prevent pellets.
