As the Russian Federal Service emphasized, this “version” of coronavirus is characterized by rapid spread.
However, in its manifestation, XEC is practically no different from other sub-variants of the “omicron”.
Monitoring of the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 variants continues throughout Russia, MIA " Russia Today " quotes a statement from Rospotrebnadzor.
When was XEC discovered?
This variant of coronavirus was first identified in Germany this summer.
XEC was later discovered in several other countries.
It is worth emphasizing that the very first cases of infection with this "version" of SARS-CoV-2 occurred before the beginning of summer. However, the samples were uploaded to the international GISAID database only in early autumn.
Symptoms of XEC
According to information shared by Rospotrebnadzor, people infected with the new variant of coronavirus may cough, experience sore throat and body pain, lose their sense of smell and appetite.
The following symptoms may also appear: increased body temperature, headache, runny nose, increased fatigue.
