WTA Names Belarusian Sabalenka as Best Tennis Player of the Year

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has announced the 2024 laureates. Among them is Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

The famous compatriot was recognized as the best tennis player of the year.

The WTA press service reported this, noting that representatives of the world's leading media outlets took part in the voting to determine the best of the best.

Aryna Sabalenka was recognized as number one in the outgoing 2024. For her, this was the first title of this kind in her career.

Let us recall that in 2024, the Belarusian won two Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open and US Open).

In addition, Arina became the winner of competitions in Cincinnati and Wuhan.

She is also a finalist in equally prestigious tournaments in Brisbane, Madrid and Rome.

In total, Sabalenka played 70 matches this year, winning 56 of them. And she finished the season as the world's number one tennis player.

Among other WTA awards, we note the winners of the “Best Pair in the World” nomination – the Italian duo Sara Eranni and Yasmine Paolini.

The American Emma Navarro won the “Progress of the Year” nomination, and the best young tennis player on the planet was recognized as New Zealander Lulu Sun.

The title of "Comeback of the Year" was awarded to the Spanish Paula Badosa.
