Belarusian hockey player Alexei Kolosov played his first match in the National Hockey League.
The very fact of an athlete from Belarus participating in the NHL is not sensational.
Belarusians have participated in this competition before.
But there is an interesting point: Kolosov is a goalkeeper. And Belarusian goalkeepers have never played in the strongest hockey league on the planet!
In other words, Kolosov became the first Belarusian goalie to play in the NHL.
How Kolosov's NHL debut went
The Belarusian, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers, took part in the match against Montreal, BELTA reports.
There were 24 shots on Kolosov's goal. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old goalie was not able to stop all of them.
The goalkeeper from Belarus let in four goals. The Philadelphia hockey players scored three goals.
In other words, the team that Kolosov plays for lost to Montreal with a score of 3:4.
However, despite the defeat and several missed goals, the Belarusian goalie received praise from coach John Tortorella. The specialist said that Kolosov made "really good saves" during the match.
Previously, the Belarusian played for the clubs Dinamo Minsk, Dinamo Molodechno and Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
