Those serving sentences for plotting to seize power in Belarus planned to shoot down the helicopter of the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, with a heavy machine gun.
One of the conspirators, Yuri Zenkovich, spoke about this in the announcement of the film "Murderous Plot. The Target is Lukashenko" filmed by the Belarus-1 TV channel. The film will be aired on September 19.
What Zenkovich said about the plan to eliminate Lukashenko
Zenkovich said that the participants in the conspiracy were seeking funding to implement the plan to eliminate the President of Belarus in the United States, Israel and Ukraine.
According to him, the plan was to shoot down the presidential helicopter with a large-caliber machine gun during takeoff or landing.
The conspiracy participant also spoke about plans to destroy the president’s family and supporters in the event of the overthrow of power.
“Just a bullet in the forehead, ” Zenkovich said on air at Belarus-1 .
In September 2022, the Minsk Regional Court found Zenkovich, Grigory Kostusev and Alexander Feduta guilty of conspiring to seize power. They were sentenced to 11, 10 and 10 years in prison, respectively.
