Lukashenko signs law on amendments to Education Code: what will change

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a law providing for a comprehensive adjustment of the Education Code.

The document is intended to improve the quality, efficiency and accessibility of education, strengthen the responsibility of subjects of educational relations and expand state protection of students, young professionals, socially vulnerable categories of children and youth.

What will change in education

The Council of Ministers is authorized to redistribute and redirect young specialists to work and provide them with additional social guarantees.

Local authorities are authorized to organize free transportation of students within populated areas to places where educational, cultural, sports and other events are taking place.

Schools in villages and urban-type settlements will be able to train drivers of mechanical vehicles and self-propelled machines.

The list of children who have priority rights for admission to sanatorium boarding schools includes minor children with disabilities for the purpose of their social support.

Foreigners will be able to receive a grant to prepare for admission to Belarusian educational institutions.

In order to improve their status, foster parents and foster parents were included among the teaching staff.
