German gardener Hans-Peter Schiffer has achieved incredible heights in growing sunflowers.
He applied to the Guinness Book of Records four times, claiming to have grown the tallest sunflower.
The farmer's claims were not unfounded: he actually appeared in the pages of the Book of Records as the person who grew the world's tallest sunflower: in 2009, 2012 and 2013.
At that time, the height of its plants was 8.03 meters, 8.23 meters and 8.75 meters, respectively.
In 2021, Schiffer once again surpassed himself: this time his sunflower reached 9.17 meters, which is equal to the height of a three-story building.
The gardener does not reveal the secret of his success, but notes that his sunflowers require daily care and are afraid of bad weather.
Hail and rain nearly destroyed the current record holder when they damaged its leaves.
But, despite the unfavorable weather conditions, the sunflower continued to grow and gave victory to its owner.
