At the AVATAR festival in Pilsen, Czech resident Josef Šalek was able to set a new world record for the plank position.

The man managed to hold out for an incredible 9 hours, 38 minutes and 47 seconds.

According to the newly-minted record holder, the most difficult period for him was between the seventh and eighth hours.

During this period he felt very dizzy and had a headache.

And yet he was able to overcome the unpleasant and painful sensations, in which he was greatly helped by his faith in himself and the support of those around him.

It is noteworthy that the Czech was able to set the record just 5 years after he adopted a healthy lifestyle.

Before this, as Josef himself said, he was overweight, drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes.

Let us recall that the previous record for the longest time standing in a plank position among men belonged to Daniel Scali from Australia – his time was only 8 minutes less than Schalek’s.
