In the German city of Reutlingen there is an infrastructure element that is mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records.
We are talking about an object called Spreuerhofstrasse.
This street has been given the status of the narrowest in the world.
The maximum width is 50 centimeters.
Features of Spreuerhofstrasse
The street appeared in 1727: some time after the residents of Reutlingen managed to cope with a serious fire that engulfed almost the entire settlement.
The first map of the city, which showed the unusual object, was published in 1820.
Spreuerhofstrasse is hardly a proper street. It is more like a narrow passage between two buildings.
At its widest point, the width is 50 centimeters, and at its narrowest point, 31 centimeters.
In other words, walking along Spreuerhofstrasse is not easy even for slim and not the broadest-shouldered people.
And yet, formally, the object is precisely a street.
Of course, the compilers of the Guinness Book of Records could not ignore Spreuerhofstrasse.
A plaque with the recorded record hangs on one of the buildings between which the street is located.
