Records can be original, ridiculous, funny and not so funny. The latter include deadly diseases.
The coronavirus pandemic, which was hastily compared to the Spanish flu that mowed down lives at the beginning of the last century, is still fresh in people's memories. However, it is not the coronavirus that is considered the most deadly disease.
The WHO, which studied mortality data over the past 20 years, has named it the most dangerous disease, writes the BBC .
Memento Mori
In fact, it is not the coronavirus or infectious diseases in general that we should be afraid of. Humanity has been living with its main enemy for decades.
The fact is that the most insidious disease was identified as disturbances in the functioning of the heart and problems with blood vessels.
Moreover, statistics show that the mortality rate in this area has been steadily increasing over the past 20 years.
But there is also good news. WHO experts note that, compared to the early 2000s, the average life expectancy of a person has increased by 6 years and is 73 years.
TOP 10 Deadly Diseases
According to research conducted in 2019, the picture is not encouraging.
The top three diseases were ischemic heart disease, stroke and COPD.
Next in descending order are lower respiratory tract infections and neonatal diseases, cancer of the trachea, bronchi and lungs, Alzheimer's disease and other manifestations of dementia.
The sad list ends with diarrhea, diabetes and kidney disease.
