Contrary to popular belief, the Statue of Liberty in the United States is not among the top ten tallest statues in the world.

Moreover, this object occupies only 37th place in the rating (if the pedestal is not taken into account when calculating the height).

There are quite a few statues that are taller than the famous 46-meter sculpture located in New York.

Examples include the 85-metre sculpture “The Motherland Calls!” in Volgograd, the 100-metre Daibutsu Ushiku in Japan, and the 108-metre statue of Buddha Vairocana in China.

And the rating is headed by an object located in India.

The tallest statue in the world

We are talking about the Statue of Unity in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The site is a monument to politician Vallabhbhai Patel, who served as Deputy Prime Minister of India from 1947 to 1950.

Patel is one of the authors of the Constitution of the South Asian country.

Construction of the sculpture began in 2013 and was completed five years later.

The object is striking in its height. The indicator is 182 meters. And if you take into account the pedestal, then 240 meters.

Thus, the famous Statue of Liberty is several times shorter than the Statue of Unity.

Earlier we told you about the tallest lighthouse .
