18.03.2024 12:30

Supercentenarians are those whose age is 110 years or more.

At the moment, there are only a few dozen such people in the world.

Currently, the oldest person on the planet is a Spanish woman, Maria Brañas Morera. She was born in the spring of 1907. Thus, she is 117 years old.

Morera currently ranks 12th among the oldest people who have ever lived on Earth.

Record holders throughout history

Among people whose age has been officially confirmed, the longest-lived was Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment. She died in 1997 at the age of 122 years 164 days.

In second place is Japanese Kane Tanaka, who lived 119 years and 107 days.

The top three in this unusual ranking is completed by American Sarah Noss, who passed away at the age of 119 years and 97 days.

The record holder among men is the Japanese Jiroemon Kimura, who lived 116 years and 54 days.

Unverified centenarians

It is possible that there were people in human history who broke Jeanne Calment's record, but their age could not be determined precisely.

An example is Dagestan resident Sarkhat Rashidova, who was possibly born in 1875 and died in 2007.

There is an Indian monk, Swami Sivananda, who, according to documents, was born in 1896. He is still alive.
