It is difficult to imagine that there is a place on our Blue Planet where breathing air is dangerous to life.

It is not about the mines, but about the Vietnamese capital – Hanoi. Experts from the World Health Organization are sounding the alarm about this.

The air in Hanoi is so polluted that the concentration of harmful substances in it is 24 times higher than the permissible safety level.

More than a million deaths worldwide are linked to short-term exposure to fine particulate matter in air pollution, according to recent research published by Medicalxpress.

Moreover, more than half of the deaths associated with dirty air occur in East Asia.

According to these indicators, Hanoi is the dirtiest city on Earth. Almost 9 million people live here.

Here, the concentration of PM2.5 microdust in the air is 24 times higher than the level considered safe by the World Health Organization.

PM2.5 particles provoke the development of cancer, stroke, and other diseases.

The main reasons for the inclusion of the Vietnamese capital in the world anti-rating are construction, motor transport, coal-fired power plants, and the burning of agricultural waste.

Almost half of Hanoi's population is forced to breathe air that is hazardous to their health.
