It is difficult to say whether there are weeds whose appearance in the garden can please the summer resident.
Some of them seem to be useful and are used to prepare nutritional mixtures. And some are even used as food. But the joy from this is not much greater.
We will tell you about a malicious weed that summer residents have to fight.
Among the couch grass, horsetail and other uncultivated growth, you can find quinoa.
It easily pulls itself out of the ground and it seems that this weed is not scary. Not so.
In fact, it is almost impossible to get rid of quinoa on a plot, which is what makes it truly insidious.
What is the power of quinoa?
A distinction is made between garden quinoa (can be eaten) and spreading quinoa (used in folk medicine).
The weed has no other advantages.
Despite the fact that the grass is considered an annual and serves as an indicator of fertile and neutral (slightly acidic) soil, there is nothing to be particularly happy about.
If you don’t fight it, the quinoa will quickly grow to a height of 1 to 2 meters (this is how garden quinoa grows).
And when its seeds ripen and fall into the ground, they retain their germination capacity for up to 6 years, which makes it, in some ways, a real record holder.
At the same time, despite its external fragility, quinoa has a developed root system and quickly spreads across the site, suppressing both cultivated plants and weeds.
