Why the World's Longest Meringue Roll Was Called "Chernozem": The Answer Is Among the Ingredients

Just recently, on January 14 of this year, the longest meringue roll in the world was prepared in Voronezh.

This achievement was included in the Russian Book of Records. Let's find out more about the culinary masterpiece and its unusual name - "Chernozem".

The dimensions of the roll, admittedly, are impressive, since its length was almost 104 meters (103.54 meters), and its weight was 260 kilograms.

Of course, to prepare such a giant, a lot of products were also needed.

To prepare the record-breaking meringue roll, 65 kilograms of pasteurized eggs, 90 kilograms of cherries, 100 kilograms of sugar, 30 kilograms of powdered sugar and 100 liters of cream were used.

To create an imitation of the fertile soil of the Voronezh region, it was decided to use black food coloring.

Here is the answer to the question of why the dessert was named “Chernozem”.

It took several hours and 50 chefs, led by chef Evgeny Matusevich, to prepare it.
