Kinmemai Premium hand-selected artisan rice is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive in the world.

Its cost reaches 109 dollars per kilogram (at the time of the record registration in 2016).

The manufacturer is the Japanese company Toyo Rice Corporation.

The exclusive rice variety consists of hand-selected grains from five varieties, aged for six months using a patented rice aging technology that was developed almost two decades ago.

Kinmemai Premium rice has a higher nutritional value than regular rice.

It contains six times more lipopolysaccharides (a natural immune system booster), 1.8 times more fiber and seven times more vitamin B1.

Other “features” include a sweet nutty flavor, unique aroma, and unusual-looking beans that resemble tiny diamonds.

This effect is achieved through a special polishing process (which, by the way, is also patented), during which only the inedible wax layer is removed.
