Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has confirmed the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in the country.
The head of state made the corresponding statement on December 10 during a visit to the Borisov enterprise "POZHSNAB".
The president's words are quoted by his press service .
What Lukashenko said about the nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus
Answering a question about plans to deploy the new Russian missile system Oreshnik in Belarus, the president said that nuclear warheads are already in the country.
I brought nuclear warheads here. Not just a dozen of them, the head of state said.
He noted that he warned all enemies of Belarus that the response to crossing the Belarusian border would be immediate.
I will not look at whether it is a nuclear weapon or something else, ” Lukashenko added.
According to him, the corresponding agreement was reached with Russia even before it returned nuclear weapons to Belarus.
The President clarified that this is not about strategic nuclear weapons, which Belarus gave up at one time, but about tactical ones.
Although, probably, it is five times more powerful than this “Oreshnik,” the head of state noted.
