Estonia and Finland intend to develop a plan to ban the Russian fleet from the Baltic Sea.

This information was voiced by the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces Andrus Merilo in an interview with the Finnish publication Helsingin Sanomat.

What Merilo said about the plan to ban the Russian fleet in the Baltic

The Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces said that Estonia and Finland will continue to increase cooperation in maritime defence.

According to him, the countries are going to develop specific plans to ban the Russian fleet from the Baltic Sea.

In military terms, this can be done, we are ready to do this, we are moving in this direction, ” the military leader added.

Answering a clarifying question about the situation in which the Gulf of Finland might be closed, Merilo said that this would be done if a danger arose.

Today, Merilo met with Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen and Commander-in-Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Janne Jaakkola, the Finnish Defence Ministry reported.
