The smell of a dog is most noticeable after bathing the pet. Foreign scientists became interested in this topic and came to an unexpected conclusion.

It turns out that the dog or the breed characteristics have almost nothing to do with it. It's all about the bacteria and fungi that live in dog fur.

British scientists have found the answer to the question of why wet dog fur has an unpleasant odor.

The results of the study were published in the scientific publication Science Focus.

No matter how unpleasant the smell of his wet pet may be for the dog owner, the animal has nothing to do with it.

During the study, it was possible to find out that the smell comes from microorganisms.

Once the animal's fur gets wet, the water gradually begins to evaporate.

Microorganisms living in the wool release volatile compounds that have a corresponding odor.

Together with evaporating water, these compounds rise into the air.

Hence, the conclusion is that the reason for the increase in unpleasant odor is air humidity, bacteria and fungi.
