Many dog owners don’t even realize that in cold weather their pets need to be fed a little differently.
There are three important points that cannot be ignored.
Warm food
In winter, dogs should not be given cold food.
Room temperature food is a good option.
But it is better to warm up the dog's food a little. Especially if the dog spends a lot of time outdoors.
Caloric content
Winter dog food should be denser than summer or autumn food.
The fact is that during periods of snowfall and frost, pets have to expend more energy.
Increase the caloric content of your four-legged friend's diet by 10-15 percent. The increase should be primarily due to animal proteins and fats.
Frequency of feedings
During the cold season, an adult dog should be fed 2-3 times a day.
As for puppies, they need to eat more frequently. If the pet is not yet 6 months old, it should be fed 4-5 times a day. If the puppy is older, the number of meals should be slightly less.
