Many dog owners neglect such a mandatory procedure as cleaning the bed.
Such a habit, or rather its absence, can lead to the most unpleasant consequences, since the bed turns into a source of infections and harmful microorganisms.
How Often to Wash a Dog Bed
Dog bedding should be washed at least once a week.
If your pet spends a lot of time outside, is prone to shedding, or suffers from allergies, then you should do this twice a week.
Effective cleaning of a dog bed
To begin with, you should remove the blanket or pillowcase (if any) from the bed, after which the bedding should be vacuumed or wiped with a sticky roller - this way the wool will not damage the washing machine.
For washing, it is worth choosing a water temperature of 60 degrees to be absolutely sure that all bacteria and microbes are dead.
The detergents used should not contain aggressive chemicals, as they can be dangerous for animals.
If the cover of the bed is not removable, you can soak it in warm water with a mild detergent.
Afterwards, dry the item in a tumble dryer at high temperature or in the open air under the sun. The main thing is to achieve complete drying to prevent mold formation due to moisture accumulation.
