Cats are sensitive to smells. They avoid citrus fruits, colognes and air fresheners, but they are not completely indifferent to household chemicals containing chlorine.
Strange behavior of a cat can be noticed after cleaning the house using appropriate products.
However, there is no need to rejoice: like any household chemical, chlorine has never brought any benefit to anyone when it enters the body.
Why do cats love chlorine?
It's all about the sense of smell and animal pheromones.
It is believed that the smell of the substance is similar to sex pheromones, which are secreted along with cat urine.
Chlorine causes corresponding changes at the hormonal level, just like when inhaling the aroma of catnip.
What is dangerous?
If your pet gets bleach into his body, if he decides to lick a bottle of household chemicals or lick the floor after wet cleaning, it can cause poisoning.
At a minimum, it can manifest itself in loss of appetite, cause digestive disorders, convulsions, coughing and wheezing, salivation and foaming, and loss of consciousness.
At the slightest suspicion of poisoning, you should show your pet to a veterinarian.
