In the summer, pets are often taken to the country, and dogs are even taken on trips - they are not as much trouble as cats.

But animals have one thing in common - they can get motion sickness while moving, which is due to the imperfection of the vestibular apparatus. Just like with humans.

What to do if your dog gets carsick, writes the publication Pravda.ru, citing expert veterinarian Ivan Lapin.

Animals get motion sickness for the same reason as people – they see movement outside the window, feel movement, shaking, but at the same time they themselves are in a state of rest.

Motion sickness can cause not only nausea and vomiting, but also rapid breathing and heartbeat, diarrhea, and excessive salivation.

But this kind of trouble mostly affects animals under one year old.

What to do

1. Do not feed your pet before the trip. The last meal should be 3-5 hours before the trip.

2. You need to remove air fresheners from the car and avoid playing loud music.

3. If symptoms recur despite following all recommendations, the veterinarian may prescribe antiemetic drugs.

It is believed that active games and physical exercise allow pets to more easily endure travel due to vestibular apparatus training.
