Spring is another cause for concern for dog owners. The main threat is parasitic insects, of which ticks are the most dangerous.

A caring owner does not forget about vaccination and prepares the pet long before the spring. After all, ticks wake up as soon as the spring sun begins to warm.

Experts have shared tips to help protect dogs from ticks.

Pills

They are considered the number 1 remedy. They are available in chewable form, the dog likes their taste, and they start working in a few hours.

But one tablet is enough for no more than 12 weeks, vomiting and diarrhea may occur (but they go away after a day), they are not cheap.

Otherwise, there are only advantages: they work after bathing, and you can touch the dog with your hands, which is important for children.

Drops

They are applied to the withers. They do not enter the bloodstream, which means the risk of harm to health is minimal.

The treatment lasts for a month. Then everything needs to be repeated. After the treatment, the dog is not bathed for 2 days.

Sprays

They act instantly, but not for long. If you treat them like this constantly, the product can cause poisoning in dogs.

Collars

They begin to act on the 2nd-4th day after use.

One collar is clearly not enough for the season. Besides, it is more of an additional means of protection, rather than the main one.

Shampoo

Best used in conjunction with a collar or other protection.

Overalls

They are sewn from thin and breathable material. The clothes are equipped with tick traps, where protective agents are applied.
