Dry pet food is considered the most popular, and all because it is convenient to use.

No pet will refuse juicy canned meat either. They are no less useful, but have some disadvantages, like dry food. But is it possible to mix two types of cat food?

Experts explained the difference between dry and wet pet food and whether it is possible to mix cat food.

Dry food

Positively, this is the easiest option for feeding. It is enough to pour one handful and put a bowl of clean water.

All nutrients in quality products are balanced, plus the problem of cleaning teeth is solved.

However, for old and sick cats the food may literally be too much for them to handle.

Wet food

It contains a sufficient amount of water, does not cause digestive problems (for example, constipation), and is suitable for animals of any age.

But if you leave it in the bowl, after some time the food will dry out, the pet will not eat and the bowl will have to be washed.

In addition, such food does not clean plaque on the teeth and problems with gums and teeth will soon appear.

Can you mix them?

You can feed your pet different foods at different times, but only products from the same manufacturer, the same class and the same line.

If the dry food contains poultry, then the canned meat should also contain poultry.

But you shouldn’t mix different products in one bowl, because it’s difficult to maintain the dosage, and your pet is unlikely to like such a diet.

You should also take into account your veterinarian's recommendations regarding the chosen diet.
