What to do if your cat "caught" a tick

If a cat lives in a summer house and roams freely around the area, it is not surprising that ticks cling to it.

This parasite poses a certain danger to your pet – they can appear in the grass as early as early spring.

Unfortunately, this parasite can be a carrier of various diseases, including hemobarthellosis and piroplasmosis.

If a cat has one of these diseases, then the presence of infection can be traced by symptoms: brown urine, shortness of breath, general weakness, limping on the hind legs and an elevated body temperature of up to 40 degrees.

If you notice a tick, you need to act quickly so that the infection does not have time to spread to your cat.

It is advisable to have another person nearby who will hold and calm the cat.

We take gloves and hook the tick closer to the proboscis using a special loop or tweezers. We twist the parasite with a circular motion, trying not to tear off the head.

It is better to burn the tick or send it to the laboratory for analysis. Treat the bite site with alcohol.
