Massage for a cat: how to do it and why

15.06.2023 14:30

It turns out that massage is useful not only for humans, but also for our smaller brothers.

When it comes to cats specifically, relaxing petting can improve the bond between the owner and their pet, resulting in a warmer relationship.

In addition, massage is simply irreplaceable if the cat has had an injury – it helps it recover faster.

Finally, massage can be called a panacea for older cats, as it helps improve the flexibility of their bodies.

The massage technique is not difficult, but if you are not confident in your abilities, remember that you can always seek help from a specialist.

You should start the massage with light stroking.

Use your fingertips to make circular movements, starting from your head and then moving smoothly down to your neck. Move slowly lower and lower.

The back should be massaged in the direction of the tail, which is also part of the spine, and towards the paws.

Please note: this procedure has contraindications, including high temperature, oncology, sprained ligaments, fractures, etc.
