In terms of appearance, there are few differences between these dogs. Both the German Shepherd and the East European Shepherd are muscular, fit, medium-sized animals with a strong build and soft bones.
But their skeletons, and therefore their sizes, do differ. The East European Shepherd is often larger than the German Shepherd.
Character traits
If we talk about, so to speak, “internal” characteristics, “Germans” have a softer character, especially when it comes to show-type breeds.
But working German Shepherds cannot be said to be phlegmatic – they are significantly more active. However, this breed has not yet managed to get rid of its viciousness.

Among the key characteristics of East European Shepherds are stinginess in emotions, self-confidence, calmness, and balance. Their main negative quality is aggressiveness.
