Cats, like other animals, can have problems with aggressive behavior. And the reason that the kindest fluffy lump turns into an angry fury is most often mistakes on the part of the owner.
Sometimes aggression is shown towards family members, and sometimes towards guests. And there are several reasons for this.
Stress
One of the most common causes of aggression is stress. Cats can be stressed by various factors, such as changes in the environment, the arrival of new family members, changes in daily routine, a visit to the vet, moving. And strangers in the animal world are dangerous. Therefore, a cat that is stressed out may attack visitors, thus protecting its life.
The owner's mistake is that he ignores this problem. Eliminate, if possible, the stress factor, create a calm environment for the animal, make sure that the pet has its own personal space where it can rest peacefully.
Pain
If your cat suddenly becomes aggressive, the reason may be pain. Cats cannot talk about their problems in human language, so the owner should not ignore aggressive behavior, believing that the pet has simply changed its character. When a person is in pain, his character also becomes bad, anger, irritability appear, quarrels with family members and colleagues become more frequent.
If you notice that your cat has become aggressive, contact a veterinarian and make sure that it has no health problems. After all, your pet may be trying to take out its irritation due to pain on strangers.
Territoriality
Cats are very territorial animals, and if they feel that their territory is under threat, they are ready to defend it from the invasion of enemies. And guests are enemies, because they have invaded the cat's territory. And then the owner tries to get the cat out from under the bed and give it to strangers to tear apart. After this, the animal may not wait until it is "eaten", attacking first. Especially if one of the strangers once hurt the cat.
As a responsible owner, you must protect your pet from the encroachments of guests, especially children, who may injure the cat without realizing it.
Also, do not forget that cats are quite active animals that need games and intellectual training. If the cat does not get enough physical and mental exercise, it can show aggression towards guests and even family members.
