Dogs in an apartment cause some inconvenience with their vocal habits. Not only do they howl when the owner is not at home, but they also bark at the door when someone rings.
This needs to be fought and you need to know how to fight it correctly, otherwise the dog simply won’t understand why he is being punished and what is wanted from him.
The Moscow agency reports on how to wean a dog off barking at home, citing the head of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev.
The expert advises to immediately stop such behavior.
1. The easiest way to distract your pet is as soon as it starts to react to the noise outside the door.
You need to call the dog in a calm voice and make it understand that no one will praise it for such behavior.
2. There is no need to calm, pet, scratch or perform other actions that the dog may regard as encouragement.
3. It is important to understand the reasons for barking. The dog may be experiencing fear or anxiety, or it may simply lack the owner's attention, or the animal does not spend enough time outside.
It has been observed that dogs that get more tired during a walk behave much calmer at home.
