Eating is an important event in a cat's life, but many owners do not attach importance to it, making mistakes when organizing a place for feeding. This can significantly worsen the life of a four-legged friend.
This article addresses three of the most important issues regarding feeding locations.
Question one: where can I feed my cat?
Most people think that the place for the cat's bowl is in the kitchen or in the hallway next to the kitchen. This location is convenient for the owner, since it is familiar, and the food is in the kitchen (it is convenient to put it in the bowl).
But in reality, a "cat dining room" can be located anywhere in the house and even outside. For example, in villages, cat bowls are placed on the porch, and the animals eat from them just fine.
Question two: where you can’t feed your cat
When choosing a place for feeding, you should consider places where the location of the bowl is undesirable.
1. Near the litter box. Sometimes people give their cats "their own corner". It contains a litter box, water and food. This is absolutely not allowed. Cats are very clean animals and have an ideal sense of smell. In this situation, they will either stop using the litter box or will eat poorly. And in any case, an additional source of stress will appear in their lives. Agree, you would not like to have lunch next to the toilet. And a cat's sense of smell is several times more sensitive than a person's. It can smell even if the litter box has the best filler.
2. In the passage. Eating in the kitchen or in the hallway is often accompanied by family members walking nearby. The father of the family stomps heavily behind you, the children want to jump on top or pet you, or the beloved mistress tries to accidentally step on your tail. The cat is constantly tense, and eating turns into serious stress.
3. Next to another cat or dog. There are cats that can eat calmly not only next to another cat, but also next to a dog. However, most often this is unpleasant for the animal, it is constantly on guard. After all, the "brother" can take away the food at any moment. Here you need to watch the behavior of the cats. But it is best to put bowls for each animal in different places.
Question three: is there an ideal place for feeding?
The ideal place is one where the cat eats calmly and relaxed, is in no hurry and does not feel any danger. That is, away from passageways, strong foreign smells, and the toilet.
For example, you can place the feeder in the corner of the room, on the table or on the windowsill located on the side of a quiet street. That is, where the pet feels safe and nothing distracts it. And family members will breathe a sigh of relief if they do not have to be constantly on guard, afraid of stepping on the pet's tail.
