Scientists do not have an exact answer to this question, but there are several hypotheses.
According to the first hypothesis, cats dip their paws into the bowl because they have poor vision up close – they are checking the water level.
Secondly, sometimes cats drink from their paws because the bowl is too narrow.
A cat may also dip its paw into water simply for fun or out of curiosity.
