If your cat doesn't let you pet it, then you're doing something wrong.
Cats have many sensitive areas on their bodies, and touching some of them can cause discomfort to the pet.
We tell you where you can pet a cat and which places it is better not to touch.
Where you can pet a cat and where you can’t
Cats love it most when you pet them on the head between the ears and eyes, behind the ear, under the chin, near the cheeks and on the neck.
You need to stroke the cat in these places very carefully, the touch should be light.
Be especially careful when stroking the cheeks and chin. If you touch the whiskers, the pet may show its character.
It is better not to touch the tail, paws and paw pads, as this may cause a very aggressive reaction.
Also, you should not touch the cat's belly, even if it lies on its back and opens its belly, as if inviting you to pet it.
By exposing its belly, the cat shows that it trusts you. However, touching this sensitive area is unlikely to please the pet.
