Scientists have discovered how cats manipulate people with purring

Cats change their purring sounds depending on their needs.

This fact was established by experts from the University of Sussex. Scientists learned that animals often resort to such tricks to manipulate people.

Experts conducted observations during which they recorded a significant discrepancy in the acoustic properties of purring. For example, when pets beg for food, they sound different than when they are cuddling in a person's arms.

For people, the purring of a cat demanding food from its owners is the most unpleasant sound.

Analysis showed that it included high-frequency sounds similar to a baby crying, Science Focus reports.

New Zealand animal psychologists have suggested that purring has a therapeutic effect on cats.

So, in some cases, animals make such sounds to calm down or reduce stress levels or minimize the negative impact of physical discomfort.
