It is not typical for dogs to actively and thoroughly lick themselves. Cats do this more often.
But if a dog licks and chews its paws, then something is definitely wrong. Let's figure out when this happens out of boredom, and when it's time to go to the vet.
Firstly, at a young age dogs can both chase the tail and bite paws, especially if the animal does not have toys. This can become a habit and the pet needs to be weaned off.
Secondly, it is possible that long claws have grown on the paws. This hinders movement and dogs begin to gnaw them.
Thirdly, health problems due to improper care. Because of this, the animal may be bothered by itching, which results in such behavior.
In this case, there may be several reasons.
1. If the anxiety appears after a walk, then in the summer it could be ticks or chemicals used to treat lawns, or in the winter salt on the sidewalks.
2. Another option is a fungal infection, which can develop on the paws, which are often wet in dogs during walks.
3. A lack of vitamins and minerals, neurosis, stress, and even spinal curvature may also be to blame.
All these reasons need to be known not in order to carry out treatment at home, but to seek help from a specialist in time.
