Firstly, cats love everything soft, especially if it is next to the place where the owner sits. And the keys on the keyboard are like a massage chair for a cat if you lie down on them.
Secondly, the equipment emits heat during operation, and where there is a heat source, there are cats. And if it is soft and you can lie down here, then the cat will definitely not ask permission.
Thirdly, scientists have noticed that cats always like to sit inside something limited – boxes, crates, etc. During the experiment, cats even sat in the center of a rectangle drawn on the surface, although there was plenty of free space around. It is believed that this makes animals feel safer.

What to do about it
You will have to be persistent and imaginative. If it is a book, you can put another one next to it, on which the cat can lie down and lie for as long as it wants. You can also adapt an old keyboard as a bed. The easiest option is to take your pet on your lap or put something more comfortable for it, for example, a plush blanket or pillow.
